Dave & Vickie Hawkins

Personal Biography

We grew up in different states but met in high school after Vickie’s parents moved to the Chattanooga, TN, area.  We attended the same Baptist church and dated throughout high school.  We both made commitments to Christ during our high school involvement with Campus Crusade and our relationship continued its growth with us maintaining its basis in our mutual love for Christ.  We entered marriage in 1974 and were subsequently blessed with three children (born in 1976, 1979, and 1981 respectively).

We attended Columbia Bible College and Seminary from 1981 – 1987, where Dave received both his BA and his MA.   We have served Christ in three churches where Dave was on staff (New Hampshire & New Jersey), at Precept Ministries, Chattanooga, with Caribbean Ministries Association, and now with International Biblical Training.

Throughout our married lives, we have striven to have a Christ-centered home as this was how we viewed our Christianity, as well as the Bible’s instructions toward family life.  We raised our family having a keen sense of our own sinfulness, but an ever-deepening appreciation for Christ’s redemption and the life to which we were called.  Even though we knew ourselves to be flawed as parents and role models, we maintained honesty among ourselves as a family and strove to keep God’s Word central in our home.

Each of our family members has embraced a personal relationship with God through His Son, Jesus Christ.   We believe in the centrality and significance of the local church, and that every Christian ought to seek to influence society toward godliness and knowing Christ personally.

Our adult children remain our best friends and there is nothing we enjoy more than being together in family fellowship.  They have blessed us immensely with seven lovely grandchildren. 

We are passionate about shepherding God’s people with His all-sufficient Word for as long as God gives life and vitality.
